DR. L. L. SMITH (The only legally-qualified Medical man ' advertising), CONSULTS — ;0n all affections of the Nervous System (no I matter irom what cause arisinsr) ; on all broken-down Constitutions -, on all Diseases ; arising from early Indiscretions ; on Gout ; ; on Rheumatism. IN these Colonies, those excesses which we have indulged ia " hot youth " tell upon us with fearful interest. Our regrets are useless, our repinings •futile. The sole idea should be the chances iwe possess of remedying- the ills we already jhave, or combating ttie effects likely to result. jHide it as he may — put on as good an exjterior as he can — still is the victim conscious ■ that he is a living iie, and that sooner or later ihis vices will discover hira to the world. Our j Faith— pur obligations to society at Jarge— . lthe welfare of our future offspring— and the jduty we pwe to ourselves — forbids procrastination, and points out to us not to wait till 'the ravages break but in our constitutions. j .Before negotiating with a merchant, before . j engaging with, a confidential clerk; before ' , employing a barrister— a careful mRn makes 7 i inquiries as to their standing ; and, in the f case of a legal adviser, both as to his legal I qualifications aad as to his capabilities of [transacting the individual business he consults J him upon. Strange to say, however, iri the ' j selection of a medical man, the sufferer freI quently omits these necessary precautions, j and without regard to the fitness, quilificai tion, experience, and ability for the particu j lar ailment requiring treatment, he consults Sthe ueareit man, whose experience and praci tice, perhaps, lies iv quite an opposite direction. Is it astonishing that so many are driven : mad, are ruined in health, and are bankrupt ;in spirits, hope, and money? Have I not, jor yeiars, pointed out to them that I, D.r. L. L. Smith, am ihe only legally-qualified medical man advertising in the Colonies ? Have I not : also prosecuted, at my. own expense, these very quacks, and exposed the various nostrums tbey are selling — such as Phosphodyne, Essence of Life, &c. — and had them analysed, , and found thtm to oonsist of '' Burnt sugar and flavoring matter," aud the certificates I have proved to bo all forgeries. It is for this reason that I step out of the ethics, of the profession and advertise, tb give those who requrie the services of my branch an. opportunity of knowing they can consult a legally qualified man, and one moreover who has made this his especial study. Dr L L. Smith is the only legally qualified I medical man advertising, and hie has been in Melbourne 24 years in full practice on Nervous Diseases Loss of Powtr and Debility Syphilitic Affections Want of Condition Gout and Rheumatism. Dr. L. L. SMITH can beconsulted by letter — Feeisl. Medicines forwarded to all the colonies. Dr. L. L. SMITH, 182 Collins st. East. (Late the Residence of the, Governor), 1 ... < ; MELBOURNE. 7 . 210
