Mr Say re, of Lexington, lisps a j little, and a good story is told of him. j Some years since be addressed one of j his overseers as follows :— " Go and buy four or five thoughth and pigth, and put them on the farm." \ The man, accustomed to obey without questioning, asked, " Shall I take the money to purchase them.*' "No, they all know me. Thend { them here— l'll pay for them, or give
you the money to pay when you get them." * The overseer went hja way, and in two weeks returned, when the foilowconversatioh took place :-r- : 41 Well, Mr Sayre, I can't get many pigs. I have ridden all over the coup? , try, all about, .and can only buy between eight and nine hundred." " Eight or nine hundred what V* "Eight or sine hundred pigs." "Eight or nine hundred pigth! Who told you to buy that many pigth ? are you a fool?" "You told me to buy them two weeks since, and I have tried to do it."; " Eight Or nine hundred pigth 2 I never told you any thuth thing;" *•; Bui you dioV-you told hie to buy four or :five thousand piga." j "I did no thuth thing !
