To the Editor of the 'Evening Mail.' Sir— ■ I would feel obliged by your publish ing in jour journal the following remarks :— Having attended the sale /of, gates, Grand Stand, &c„ held at Messrs Sharp and Pickering'* auction rooms, for the purpose of purcha ing the same, and hearing now that tbey were sold to a well-known resident in this town previously to the *a'e for the sum of £47 10s when I know myself that tbere was a legitimate bid of £81 made by Mr T. Harley for the same, and that he was outbid by the private purchaser at the sum of £85, I wish to know whether the Stewards are not responsible for the deficiency. — I am, &c, ...... Citjzbn.
