A singular case is reported in the local journal . es having-.been heard at Bulls, Eangitikei, in tbe Wellington province, on Tuesday last :—" The plaintiff sought to recover JEI 2 10s. from the defendant under somewhat unusual circumstances. It appeared that the plaintiff, on going to work, hung his waistcoat on the stump of a tree. In the pocket of thia waistcoat was his watch with chain attached, on which there was a ring. Some children who were playing near, got at the watch with the appendages. One of ihe children forthwith comnienced to hammer the watch flat, which he succeeded in doing to his entire satisfaction, and was proceeding to serve the ring in the same way, when his operations were unceremoniouslyjput n stop to, the cbßiu iu .the meantime haviug been loat. The owner consequently sued the father of the alleged real delinquent for the value of tbe whole. The case was adjourned until next Court day."
