The Kennedy leaves to-night for Wanganui. The Murray will sail for West Coast ports on Monday. The Lady. Barkly leaves for Collingwood at 10 o'clock to-night. She will proceed to the Spit Lighthouse v. ith storeß. The Wallace . arrived at Wesiport tbis morning, l ahd wiil sail to-night for Hokitika. She reports the Grey bar impassable. The Ladybird has entered upon a new service. She is now running on the East Coast between Poverty Bay and Dunedin, calling at Napier, Wellington. Lytti-lion, and Timaru The Maori sailed for West Coast ports ac 7 o'clocjt lass evening. The* schooner Awaroa will sail for Wanganui at 10 p'm .•'on Monday. The Hawea, whicli has been detained by the Government to convey tLe outgoing San Erancisco m.il, will leave Wellington tomorrow, arriving * here on Sunday morning, and sailing for. the North the eame day. Sbe'left Port Chalmc-rB at 3.30 p.m. on the 2nd, and arrived at Timaru at 7.30 a.m. on the 3rd; leit again at 10.30, and arrived at Lyttelton at 1 i p.m. same day; .ailed at 4 p.m. on the 4th, and arrived at Wellington at 10 B.n_i* on the 6ih; left again at midnight, and arrived at Picton at 5a m ; left for Nelson at, B a m., arriving as above; having experienced fine weather throughout. While tho party were fi-:hing an enormous shark came up alongside the boat, and lay on the Burface some seconds sunning itself,, when it was harpooned by the carpenter, iiut. contrived to eecipe, the harpoon penetrating it eighteen inches. The shark is described, as having been fully sixteen feet long;' and, to me the carpenter's own words ** It locked like a dead horss floating on the water."
