The Timaru Herald says: — " Great quantities of grain may now be seenv pouring into town daily. Every trainwhich arrives brings a long line of trucks filled with it; while drays from every quarter are coming in from morn- . ing till nighfrheavily loaded. * Captaio Huiton visited the reported fabulous rich district of Olepopo, wnere it was said gold, silver, diamonds, &ci, existod in any quantity suitable to requirements. \ : Thai' report of Captain Button is as follows : — "I have visited the locality. No coal is known to exist on the property. . I was only shown a band of dark colored olay with a few streaks of coal in it. I recommended Mr Fenwiok not to spend any money on it. The silver ore is arsenical iron pyrites. It appears that Professor Black bad previously reported the same to Mr Fenwick. [The ' antimony ore ' was also iron pyrites. • Wben it was found to occur in large quantities it was called antimony, when in smalls quantities, itlwas called silver; — F. W.
