THE UNITED ORDER OF FREE TEMPLARS.

To tub Editor oi* the ' Evening Mail.' Sir— ln tlie Evening Mail a few weeks ago appeared the account of the instbution of a lodge of the New Zealand Order of Templars in the City of Nelson, remarking that a delegato was then on his way to Auckland to attend a general convention, with a view t > uniting the two New Zea and Orders ("iz., Unite 1 Order of Free Templars, and the New Z-. aland Order of Tcmplirs) into oneOnJcr. I am very happy to sty we .-aind no difficulty in the way, each being willing to nuke every reasonable concession, and the result was the union ofthe two Orders. Prior to the union of the two O'dera their numeric-.! position was:—New Zealand Order of T.mplars, four lodges, a menversinp of 213, the first lodge beinar instituted oa the 23rd of March, 1875; the United Order of Er. e Templars had five lodges and a membership of 843, the licit lo<ige being instituted on the 23rd of March, 1875. The National Chief Lodgu was held in Auckland, the convention havi g aesolved to institute lhe governing body, they having a grand total of 1056 members iu good standing, and we have applications for ten new lodges. Instituting odicers will be commissioned shortly, and we trust by introducing a more brotherly feeling iuto lhe new Order thnt success will crowii our efforts. If jou would kindly insert the above in your valuable paper jou would greatly oblige Onu ov the Delegates. Auckland, Feb. 29.
