The Nelson Evening Mail. FRIDAY, JANUARY 14, 1876.
A meeting of the Loyal Nelson Lodge of Good Templars will be held this evening.
The final competition for the carbine representation took place this morning, when Grunner Harling qualified with 167, and Grunner Nicholson with 166.
A challenge has been received by Captain Pitt from tbe Wellington Artillery to a carbine match, ten men on each side. The challenge has been accepted, and the match will come off shortly.
A meeting of the members of the Port Eowing Club will be held at the Port Fire Brigade Hall this evening at 8 o'clock.
"We are glad to learn that the two boating clubs now being established in town are likely to receive a large amount pf support. The Club
has already over 40 active members, and 30 honorary members on the roll, and that at the port is also enrolling a considerable number. The result is likely to be that we shall shortly have in Nelson as good boats, and as powerful crews as are to be found in any other part in New Zealand.
