CORRESPONDENCE.
"£." .IN REPLY. To the Editor of thk.'EvsSino iUii.' Sik— l can always appreciate a smart. saying.eVen when it telli against hiyself, and can assure tylr Rout that none enjoyed more than I did his • adroit alliterative allusion to me to-day, when he said that " ' F. was sometimes funny, often foolish, and bri this occasion ferocious." I demur, however, to the charge, of scurrility brought against myself, but am gratified to find that Air Rout's eyes have been' opened to the extent of seeing how r applicable it is to the, speech delivered by him at Richmond. In my weekly letter I merely put into plain words the statements made by Mr Rout on that occasion. I did not alter the substance, but merely changed .the clothing,' and when his sentiments were, seen in that garb by Mr Rout he at once : exclaimed " How scurrilous." I congratulate him on his perspicacity, and myself on having succeeded, iti~ the, object I had in view of '• making him seSthe full force of the charges he had made against honorable and estimable men. I am; Sec, : : . . F.
