Wklmngton, Friday Arrived — Ship Avalanche, from London, £9 days out, with 225 immigrants, all well. Fine weather was experienctd all the way out No sickness or deaths have occurred during the voyage. The Harbor Board to-day decided that in comequenca of the lowest tender for the dock greatly exceeding the Engineer's estimate, no tender would be accepted, as tbe amount exceeds the sum at the disposal of the Board. Mr Metcalfe, Mdlle de Murska'a agent, is endeavoring to get a guarantee or purchase o( houses for^ his principals, as in Melbourre. A requisition, signed by many influential people and a large number of other?, hi* been presented to Mr Moorhouse, asking him to consider his decision as to not again standing for Mayor. He has signified his willingness to again allow himself to be nominated. Mr Bunny's address to the electors or Wairarapa will appear on Monday. He takes up the same ground aa Mr Hunter, opposing farther continuance of Provincialism and separation. He is in favor of shire councils. Saturday. About £609 have been subscribed for the inter provincial regatta. The following are the events and prizes : — Four-oar outriggers (for championship), £150; five-oared' (or more) racing whaleooats, steered with steering oar, £50; four-oared unrigged gigs, £100; pair-oared unrigged gigs, £20; acullera outriggers prize, Cup and £15; first class yach s, £50 and Shaw and Seville's Cup; maiden four-oared unrigged race, £10; coasters race, £50 and Shaw and Saville's Cup; second class yachts, £10; minor fouroared unrigged gig race, £10; five-oared whnleboat race for volunteers and firemen, £10. Parliament will be dissolved, arid the new writs will be issued on Monday morning. The writs run for 60 day 8. Failed— Steamer Wellington, for Picton, Nelson, and North. Passengers — Miss Walmaley, Mrs. Hain.es, Newton, Dempaey, Halse, Messrs. George, Wernyss, Nairn, Olive, Kichaids, Jackson, 10 immigrants, and 19 original from South. GEtHAMSTOwif, Friday. Sir George Gref has expressed himself hk'hly favorah'e to the construction of the Thames and Waikato riilwav, and told the deputation that if the Government wou'd pass a bill guaranteeing a dividend, a company could easily be formed to make the line. The same experiment had been tried by him at the Cape. Auckland, Friday. Mr Buckland reports — Fat cattle, 30s per 100 bs; f*t sheep, Sd per lb; store ewes, ia wool', 178 6d; breadstuff's, unchanged; Taranaki butter was auctioned to-day from 6Jd to lOd; maize, 4s. Mr O'Korke h'*s issued an address for Onehunga.
