We (Auckland Star) ha?e inspected, a curioaity ia the shape of an envelops forwarded to Us addressee from the wreck of the Schiller. It ia interesting as showing the care which was taken by the English Post-office authorities that the letters recovered from the wreck should arrive at their destination as securely and rapidly as possible. The specimen we have seen exhibits the front or address part of the damaged cover, pasted on the front of a large blue envelope. The back of the original cover is pasted on the back of the large envelope, and the Government seal affixed. The enclosure was, of coarse, placed in the large envelope. The letter to which we refer had a money-order inside as well as correspondence, and both arrived safely within a week of the wreck of the unfortunate vessel. The writing was a little smeary, bat was perfectly legible. Id many cases the envelopes had become completely detached from the enclosures, and with these great difficulty was experienced in getting them owned, but the officials displayed the at moat patience, and afforded applicants every possible convenience ia identifying their communications.
