i Mr Paekeb, M.H.R., notifies that he will meet the electors of the district of Motueka at various places, commenc- j | ing with Waimea West on Tuesday | evening, the 16th instant. The meeting of the Regatta Club originally advertised to take place this avening, will be held to-morrow evening at the Trafalgar Hotel, at 8 o'clock. The annual examination of the scholars attending the Hope and Ranzau j schools wili be conducted by Messrs Shephard and Barnicoat on Friday next. I There will be a tea meeting in the afternoon, and a public meeting in the evening, when the prizes will be presented to the successful candidates. To-day is very generally observed as a holiday in town, and since an early hour picnic parties have been wending their way to that favorite holiday resort "The Rocks." The Ino started this morning on an excursion trip to Wangamoa and the Croixelles, but she did not appear to have many passengers as she left Jthe wharf. Many of the townspeople have elected to spend the day in the Waimeas, and the day has noi been a bad one for the livery stable keepers. The Bazaar at the Provincial Hall was fairly attended last night, and the stall keepers appeared to be moderately busy, the refreshment room especially being well frequented as supper time approached. Tho collection of views, &c,^ was largely patronised, and all were delighted with what was to be seen in that portion of the room. A fresh selection of pictures will be exhibited to-day, and there will again during the evening be music and singing. The Ntlson Artillery Dramatic Corps had a full dress rehearsal last night, and showed themselves to be well up in the parts (hey are to take in the entertaiument on Thursday next, which promises to be one of the most successful of the kind yet seen in Nelsoa.
