Arrived— Steamer Albion, bringing Me«ars Macndrew and party, who were received on landing by the Mayor and Councillors, a few cit'zeos, and the betas band, wh'ch olayed "See the Conquering Hero cornea"' No formal address was presented, and after visiting the graving dock, slips, schools, and Quarantine Island, thi party were conveyed to Bunetfi by special train. Arrived— Ships Zealandia, with 189 passengers, from London; Auckland, with 418 passengers, from Ghsgow. They bare been cleared by the Immigration Officer. Representatives of the Press have been debarred from inspecting ships till after the clearing officers have left them. This order is said to emanate from the Agent- General. Sailed— Steamer Albion, for Melbourne. Donediw, Wednesday. The demonstration by the crowd on the arrival of the train with the Superintendent's party was very feeble. The cheers were intermingled with groana and yells. It commenced to rain just as they arrived. There was no formal ad Jr^ss, and the reception was a compete failure. Wanganui, Wednesday. The Herald, in an article, suggested that Sir Julius Yogel should be returned as the second member for WaDganui. The response in favor of the ideae'ems to be well received throughout the community. Timaru, Wednesday. At the Temuka luncheon yesterday, celebrating the opening or the Timaru and Temuka railway, Sir G. Grey, Messrs Fitzherbert, Rolleston. Macandrew, Sheehtn, Bunny, and others attended, having arrived by the Albion en route for Dunedin. AH the four Superintendents made strong Provincial speeches, with a direct bearing on the coming elections. Before anyone hid a chance jo speak on the other side, Mr Rolleston vacated the chair, s tying Sir G. Grey wonctd to go for a walk, and the whole affair came to an abrupt termination. The affair took the people entirely by surprise. There were scarcely any of the leading settlers present, the luncheon having been intended as a quiet little local demonstration. A reporter sat at tha head of the table with the Superintendents taking notes. Auckland, Thursday. The Hero liaa arrived from Sydney after a ve-y rough passage. On the 21st inst., when about 100 miles from Sydney, a heavy gale was experienced, and a heavy sea broke on board doiog a lot of damage, and while the Captain aad secoad mate were working at clearing away the wreckage, another green sea broke over the sWp, smashing the wheel, carrying away the rail, and washing tbe second mate overboard, Captain Logan was also nearly crushed, and several of the crew were crippled.
