A coebesposdent calla attention elsewhere to the proposition to be brought before the City Council at its next meeting to purchase the building in which they now hold their deliberations. The matter is worthy of consideration not only for the reasons given by " Publicola," but because ife is exceedingly likely that in consequence of the abolition of the provinces the Hall now used as a Provincial Council Chamber will be no longer required for that purpose, and it would certainly be a more fitting building for a Town Hall either than that in which the City Council at present meets, or such an one as is proposed by our correspondent. The question is one that should not be decided hurriedly, but all the circumstances should be carefully considered before the Council commits the ratepayers to so heavy a liability. [Since the above was in type, we find that a meeting of ratepayers is called to discuss the matter.]
