The Nelson Eveening Mail. SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 4, 1875.

A lecture on the" Noble ßereaus " will be delivered in the Baptist Church to-morrow evening at half-past six. Two important words were omitted in our report yesterday of the meeting at Poxhill. The quantity of timber that would probably be conveyed by the railway if extended was stated to be 40,000 feet per week. The Sisters Duvalli gave another entertainment last night to a rather thin audience. They will appear again tbis evening, and on Monday night the sisters will take their benefit, for which occasion there is an attractive and liberal programme. Mr Kerr, the hon. treasurer of the Nelson Aid Society, desires to acknowledge with thanks the receipt of £2 2s from Major Valentine Smith, and £1 Is. from the Kev Patrick Calder, in aid of the funds of the Society. The Stoke Farmers' Club will hold a special meeting this evening, for the purpose of considering the best steps to be adopted for preventing any further loss by the ravages of small birds. The Temperance Hall was well filled last evening to hear an entertainment given by the Good Templars for the benefit of the widow and children of the late Bro. Kingston, Otago. Bros. Augarde and Jacobs and the Misses Augarde ably rendered the instrumental portion of the music, and to the firstnamed gentleman the success of the entertainment is due. The vocal music waa creditably rendered, and several readings and recitations further tended to make the evening a pleasant one.
