The following amusing case was heard at the Eesident Magistrate's Court, Eeeftoa, oa Saturday last - McCarthy v. M'Geedy.— £10 4s. The claim was made up of a variety of charges, needlework amongst others. The learned counsel, in reading over the bill of particulars, elicited no small amount of laughter. "To making straight jackets, 10s." "To making three babies, 7s 6d." It seems that in the former item the word "street" was intended, and not "straight* jackets," and in the latter the learned gentleman had omitted to add the word "jackets "after "babies," which conveyed a somewhat altered notion. After a good deal of conflicting evidence had been adduced on each side the Bench gave a verdict for £l< 17 8 6d' with 19s costs, and £l i s professional costs. [
