A very large meeting lo,sfc night almost unanimously passed the rfsolnti m moved by Mr Wynn Williams. l<tte Provincial Solicitor, to the effect that the proposals contained in the Government Abolition Hill would be con r ducive to. great and lasting benefit to the c )lony. An amendment in f -wor of flret submitting the measure to the people of the colony waß received with mingled cheers and hisses, but was negatived. A resolution was then proposed by Mr Saunter*, late Superintendent of Nelson, to the effect that while the meeting would offer no impediment to the abolition of the provinces, they woul 1 avoid any expression of approbation of the Government measures, especially as regards nominated for elected Superintendents, and plurality of voling to property holders. The motion was negatived by a large majority.
