The rabbit nuisance is assuming such proportions in the Province of Otago — including Southland — as to cause serious alarm. A correspondent of the Otago Guardian says the country immediately around Eiverton, which, before it was infested with rabbits, supported thousands of sheep, will not now feed any. He estimates that seven rabbits are equal to one sheep, as consumers, and the amount actually consumed by them does not represent the full extent of the mischief done.
