Mr John Reid's offer of one shilling per acre for No. 58, Totara Flat, was declined. An i ofler of 4s per acre, made by Mr H. Gilmer, and accom- ■ pauied by a cheque for a year's rent, was accepted. Resolved, on the motion of Mr Wastney, That from April Ist the ] salary of the assistant at Spring Grove be at the rate, of £36 per annum. The Board having been requested, as lessors of No. 88, Westport, to sign Mr Maclean's deed of composition, it was 'resolved, on the motion of Mr Rout, That the trustees be informed that the Board will not sign any deed of "composition, but will give the trustees the option of paying all arrears of rent, or of surrendering the lease. Resolved, on the motion of Mr .Wastney, That Local Committees be requested,- in future, to give the Secretary timely notice of the resignation of any teacher in their employ, with a statement of the exact amount of salary due to him, on his leaving the school. . Resolved, on the motion of Mi/ Wastney, That Local Committees he recommended, when advertising for a new teacher, to allow such an interval to elapse, before filling up the appointment, as will give' intending applicants ample opportunity of obtaining a special certificate from the Board of Examiners. Resolved, op the motion of the Rev. . T.Buddlk, That the estimate of the requirements of the Board, for th# ensuing financial,. year, prepared odd read by tbe Secretary, be adopted, and forwarded to the Provincial Government, accompanied by full explanations of tbe several items. A letter was read from two members of the Collirigwood Education Committee, complaining of the non-intei-ference.of the Board with the majority of the Committee, who had granted the use of the school-room for a Foresters/ | fete. / A. letter was read from Mr Sadd, referring to his salary.
