Sir —Very proper it '.is that attention should be drawn to the misstatements of which ' Coma " complained in your yesterday's issue. To his letter I desire only to add that the two " old wha'eboats" referred to, tho Colonist and the Thistle were never put into the water until tbis ye.ir; therefore ihey were not unworthy of competing in the champion race. There was, however, another race in which four whaleboats competed, one of tbem being the Phantom, which was thought good enough to be brought over to Wellington some lime ago to compete in tbe whaleboat race here. The snobbish sneers of a flippant news-hack form but a poor return for the kindness shown 10 us by the Nelson people, who I hope will do their best to foster the harmonious spirit that ha% ex: sted between the boating men of the two provinces for many years past. —l sm, &c., Old Wiialeboai.
