COLONIAL PRIZE FIRING.
(From Our Special Correspondent.) Parawai, Thuradav, l 45 p.m An enquiry into a protest enterel against Skinner lor haviae tampered with his sight has been held, and lasted from eeven till eleven last night. A large quantity of evidence was taken. Major Lmk, as president, and Captain Baillie and Sub-Inspector Newell, of the Armei Constabulary, constituted the commission, The protest was disallowed. 2.20 p.m. The All Comers Match commenced this moroing. At the firs-t range the following were the first t welve men ;— Nelfon 25. Kingsworth 25, Gilbert 21, Gallagher 24, Kelly 24, Christie 24, Fox 24, Skinner 23, Bowden'S3, Wilson 23, M'Kenzie 23. The Small Bore Match for .£ls, last evenintr, was won by Boskitiß, of the Thames. Walker (Thames), and Christie and Wilson (Otago) also competed. 8 p.m. First All Comerb Match. Ranges 200 and SOO yards; seven snots at each rangf. Entrance fee, 5b \ Armstrong, 47, £17; M'Laren, 46, jSIO; Small, third, £11 10s; Hopkins, fourth, £2; Nelson, fifth, jei; ISykes, sixth, £l. Several Of the Otago and Auckland men were close up, bnt none were successful in taking prizes excepting M Laren, Immediately on the conclusion of this match, the Second All Comers Match was taken and finished at 7 p.m. This was tho last of the Government matches, and there were 85 competitors. Fenton, Churton, Wilson, Christie, Hoekins, and Furnell used smallborea, and the remainder thu Enfield Five prizes out of -six were carri d off by the smallbores. The scores were : — Fenton, fU jEIO; Purnell, 49, £7; Hoskins, 48, £5; ©hurton, 46, £2; Skinner, 45, £1; WiUon, 45, £1. Christie was again very unfortunate, waking a score of 44. The sma'l-bores Lad a greut advantage over the Knflelds. To-morrow a match will be fired at Soali's black targets. **" On Saturday there will be a match, Colonial, Englinh, Irish, and Scotch, ten men on each side. The Scotch are considered to be the best team. Probably there will be a match for Maoris on Saturday afternoon. Friday, 225 p.m It has been raining hard all morning, and there wbb no shooting. The match at the black targets has just commenced, as the weather ia clearing up.
