MR. WIX'S WOES.

To tub Editor of the ' Evenino Mail.' Sir— l see that the Nelson bowler has had another over. Referring to my reply to his first letter he reminds me in a funny way that a mountain has before this given birth to a mouse. This was no news to me, but I never knew' an instance of a mouse bringing forth a mountain until I saw the mass of words to which Mr Wix's n«me i* attached in the Colonist this morning. I little thought that those two or three lines of mine about his bowling were going to give rise to such a formidable correspondence. I Rhould have liked to reply to his long litter, but I can see nothing in it to answer. Commencing with a brief treatise on burlesques, critics, and newspaper corre c pondence, ' it culminates in one long drawn out wail, which might have been put into far -ewer word.. The substance of it is: — •' I did bowl straight, indeed I did, please don't believe the person who says I did not." I Bee that the editor of the Colonist is fatigued of Mr Wix, and I am sure the public are, so I wa«h my hands of him until the next match, when I hope an opportunity of speaking in higher terms of his bowling will be afforded to " The Person who wrote the Account."
