Hack Hubble Race, over z<*ar hurdles. There were two entries. Kangaroo won through Turpin Buying at the last hurdle. The Wellington Debet of 100 soys, added to a sweepstake of io soys each; h ft; for three-year-olds. Colts, 8»t lOlbs; fillies, Bst6lb. Distance, one mile and a half. Closed with 18 subs. Ngaro 1 Guy Fawkes ... ... ... 2 Remnant ... 3 .Theie were seven entries, but Voltaire, Glenary, and Bangi were scratched. Betting, 5t04 on Ngaro. After several false starts, Ifgaso went off witb the lead, Remnant second, Gny third, Nauaka not being moveable until the others were 100 yards away, and after running half a mile he turned rusty and waa pulled off. Ngaro kept tbo lead, Remnant and Gay Fawkes running neck and neck, «ud won by a couple of lengths, Guy Fawkes second, a length ahtad of Remnant, wbo appeased to be held. Time, 2 mins 55 sees. . JopcET Clob Hahdioap of 100 soys, added to a sweepstakes of 5 soys each. One mile and a half. .Parawhenua 1 Remnant 2 Princess Mary 3 There were ten entries, but Voltaire, Rangi, and T'mbonrini were scratched. Parawhenua took the lead from the start, Remnant second, Guy Fawkes third, fgaro fourth, and Princess Mary lat. This order was kept up with little alteration until nesting the straight run home, when Princess Mary changed her position from last to third, two lengths behind Parawhenua, and one behind Remnant. Parawhenua increased her lead by another length, thus winning, Remnant being .second, and Princess Jtary third. Time, 2 mins. **»-•««§.
Consolation Handicap of 50 soys. Once round. The acceptances were :— True Blue, Bst 2*bß; Remnant, 7st 91b 8 ; Ngaro, 7s. 8lbs; pbcenix, 7s. Jibs; Princess Mary, sst 21b?. Won by True Blue by two lengths, Phoenix and Ngaro being within half a length of each other for second place. Time, 2 mins. 5 seas. Hubdle Race of 10 govs. This was a gift to Dick Turpin, Nutwith second Much dissatisfaction was expressed at the various heavy charges for the privileges of the course. The name of the horse which won the Maiden Plate was Lough Neagh, and not Lough Rae. He was bred by Mr Ballance. of Wanganui, who cold him ju9t before the race* to Mr O'Brien , the owner of Tambourini, | for £300. ■*■''""'
