In the interval he will be sworn in and enfertsined at a ball. He will hold a levee, after which he proceeds to Wellington in the Luna. Weu_j.gton, Monday. Tbe Lana sailed to- d_y. Amongst her passengers are Sir George Araey, and Captain Per gaason, A.D.C. The Oneco, for Neieon, was towel ont by the Lana, Before leaving, three deserters from the ship Doaghs were captured on board. Chbistchubch, Taesday. M»jor Palmer has almost completed his arrangements at Burnham Observatory and tbe tub-stations for viewing tbe transit of Veaus. The sob -stations arc flee in number, namely, Grahamstown, Auckland, Wellington, JRcckyaide, Dnnedin, aad Naieby in Otago. A project is on foot for floating a Company with £10,000 capital for erecting a new theatre. Mr Allen of the Opera Company is taking an active pirt in the matter. Dusbdin, Tuesday. A prodnca telegram from the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency, dated London, November 12, states that tbe wool sales will close on the 4th proximo. 60,000 bales have arrived to date. The market is easier. Por tallow there is less trade demand, and the market la qniet. Preserved meat aod boiled beef without bones in 2lb tins. 7Jd per pound, wi'h a fair trade demand. Tbe whest market isflifc. New Zealand hemp continues dull. Of Kauri gam the stock in hand according to the last retarn was 1000 tons.
