Messrs Goldsborougb. & Co., under date Melbourne, Nov. _, report as follows:— WOOL. The first sale of the new clip of wool was held at our warehouse on the 14th ult., snd drew together a larger attendance than we hare witnessed on any previous occasion, the sale-room being crowded throughout wi h merchants, squat tern, and others interested in oar great staple. The catalogue was not a Tery-lwge^one, only 3205 bales, principally greasy, haviog been offered, as much business is not usually transacted at' the first eale. The biddings, however, were exceedingly brisk,' and competition was well maintained, bnyers evincing throughout a strong desire to operate. Several sales na*e been held, both in Melbourne and Geelong, making ihe total number of bales offered to date S2 352, f of which 25.002 bales have been fold at very satisfactory rates, the market closing with considerable firmness. HIDES. This market has been fairly supplied, and we have to report a slight improvement in value, mare particularly for salted hides, for which we have a gojd demand. All sent forward found purchasers at the following prices;— Oxhides, 82s to 32s each, cowhides, 14s to 22s e-ch'-wet-salted, Victorian, 4d to Sd per lb; New Zeda_d,'sd io fild per lb; calfskins, up to 7 Jd per lb.
