Good Tkmplabb. — Members of the Order will colic* t^at the election of officers of the Loyal Nelson Lodge, No. 61, for the ensuing quarter will be held this evening. At the Loyal Marine Lodge last night, nine candidates were initiated, and seven proposed. The Aihambra arrived at Hokitika this morning, but a portion only of her telegrams has reached us, aad that just as we were going to press. The only important items of English news are that the balance of ihe Victorian 4 per cent, loan bae been entirely withdrawn from the London market, and that Naoa Sahib, the instigator of the great Indian mutiny of 1857, has been captured. NKLBON ARTIZANS' ABBOGIATION. — Last night's entertainment was not a success from a pecuniary point of view, ihe audience being extremely limiuac'. This is to be regretted, as some considerable trouble had been taken in getting up the performance, which was for a charitable object. cases being set down for hearing. The majority of them are for the recovery of road rates. Madame Ababella Goddard.--Thia distinguished lady, whose career, eince ehe was siiteeo, has bfcen an unbroken series of successes, and who will arrive in Nelson to-morrow, is announced to give a grand concert in the Provincial Hall, on Tuesday nexi. We have already given a sketch of her artistic history, and need only now express our pleasure that an opportunity is to be afforded us of hearing the " Queen ef Pianistea." The advertisement does not mention the names of the other artistes who are to take part in the concert, _but there is no doubt that Madame Goddard will be brilliantly surrounded, and it may safely be anticipated: that the Goddard concerts will be the beat ever given in the colony. ; j . 'The Wellington Provincial Government appear to have made ap their minds that their life, if short, shall be a merry jone. ;^rhey have already bad one very successful land sale, and they now notify their intention of putting up half a million of aares in the, Wairarapa and East doait districts.
