Mr Fell appeared for the prisoner?, Birnie, master' of the schooner, said they had come to him in the morning aeking for their discharge, but he said he could not do so as he was here under distress. Under these circumstances the men were remanded nntil Saturday morning, Fire. — A fire took place on Tuesday last at 88 Valley, Waimea South, when a smal. flax milli together with' about four tons of dressed flax, were entirely oonsumed. He was in the mill at the time.of the fire, but was so taken by surprise by the rapid manner in which the flumes sprear-, that he was unable to save anything.
