The seam is six and a half feet thick and is supposed to be a continuation of that found in Seaton. and Co.'s lease. The seam appears to be compact and well defined and the coal of a good quality. A portion of it has been sent to Dr Hector at Wellington to be tested. The seam wasflratf^und bulging ; out at the foot of a precipice of .sedimentary rock, about 125 feet above the level of the MdkiKbai River.
