: Suez Mail. — As is so frequently the cose now, the Suez mail arrived at Melbourne two days before her due date, and has been brought to tbe Bluif by the Albion which made a splendid run down of 4 days 12 hours. Her telegranctS; will, be fonnd elsewhere. Good Templars. — At the meeting held last night ten new members were initiated. To-night there will be a special meeting, owing to the death of one of the Brothers, Mr.H. Williams of Russell street. Baptist Church — A sermon will be preached in- -the above church tomorrow morning, at eleven o'clock, by Mr J. Woodward, of Wellington. Wesleyan Church. — The Rev. Jonas Woodward, of Wellington, will preach in the Wesleyan Church, Hardystreet, to-morrow evening at seven o'clock. Auction Sale.-— We have been requested to state that tbe sale of stock to be held .by Messrs Sharp and Pickering, ot the White Hart Hotel, will take place on Wednesday next instead of on Friday, as advertised by mistake in last night's Mail and tbis morning's Colonist. Union Bank op Australia.— ln our fourth page there will be found a report of the annual meeting of shareholders in this Bank held in London ou the 14th of July last. The balance sheet discloses a .highly prosperous state of affairs, and a substantial I proof of the success that has attended the institution is afforded to tbe shareholders in the shape of a half-yearly dividend of 7 per cent_. Artillery Entertainment. — The entertainment of Tuesday last was repeated last night to an overflowing house, admission having to be refused to several who came late. The great success that has attended this effort on the part of the Artillery to provide funds for their excellent band and amusement for the people must prove highly gratifying to the promoters. A repetition of Black-Eyed Susan, followed by a . new farce, would, we believe, draw another crowded audience. H.M.S. Blanche, and tbe Governor's yacht Blanche took their departure this morning, on a cruise along the West Coast of this island. His Excellency is accompanied by Mr Gully, who will thus have an opportunity of sketching some of the noble scenery of the parts he is about to visit. The man-of-war on getting outside tbe harbor had ball practice at a buoy anchored for tbe purpose. Motueka Mails. — Residents in Motueka and theMouteres will be glad to hear that after the first of October next a tri-weekly mail service by coach will be established between Nelson and Motueka, leaving Nelson on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and returning on tbe following days. As tbe contractor will be compelled to take his coach through at all times, tbis will be a great boon to settlers in the districts through which it passess, j The following telegram from Auckland appeared iu tbe Wellington Post of Tueaday last:— .* lt is reported, that Mr Vogel, when in England, will endeavor to obtain the passing of an Act in the Imperial Parliament empowering the General Assembly to make the constitutional changes embodied in the resolutions passed last session."
