ENGLISH AND FOREIGN.
The Duke Decaze, the French Minister of Foreign Affairs, h-ta complained to the British Government that Germany is seeking to quarrel with France re the Carlists. He denies conniding with the Carlists. The inquiry into the assassination of Marshal Prim has resulted in the indictment of fifty more persons. Ireland advices state that the reception of John Mitchell, the Fenian exile, on his return to Cork, was most enthusiastic, the streets being alive with bands of music, and bonfires. There was a torchlight procession in which 500 persons participated.. A riot occurred at Armagh during a parade of Orangemen The military cleared the streets at the point of the bayonet, and many were woundeu. A n immense home rule demonstration has been held at Glasgow. The procession was a mile long. Twenty thousand persons attended a mass meeting, and similar demonstrations at Dnncannon. The Republican General has captured Vittoria, and the Carets have suffered several reverses The President of Spain has thanked Germany for first recognising the Government. Accounts of famine in Asia Minor are of a very thrilling character. In one district five thousand perished. Numbers subsisted on grass for many weeks. Bodies lay naburied for many days, and many villages are deserted. Fifty thousand miners have been addressed by Bradlaugh and others. Eight hundred persons, formerly connected with the Commune, have been arrested at Marseilles. European reports are satisfactory. Respecting the war between China and Russia, advices state that China has pushed forward 100,000 picked troops to the Kaehgar frontier, and has also garrisoned the frontier towns. They intend attacking Kashgar, in which event Russia will assist that country.
