Miss Jex Blake.— This young lady, who has played the part of a heroine in connection with the question of female medical education, has met with an unexpected rebuff. It will be remembered tbat she and others ol her sex were successful iu carrying their cause as to tbe rigbt of femules to obtain degrees in medicine, and accordingly Miss Jdx Blake and others of her sex have of late been reading op for their first professional examination at Edinburgh University, whioh took place a few days ago. The examination was chiefly conducted in botany and chemistry, and resulted in Miss Blake being "plucked ."—English paper.
