The Post, in to-night's leader, says they have reason to believe that Mr Yogel strongly urged Mr Stafford to join the Government, and tbat tbe latter flatly refa-ed, notwithstanding that Mr Yogel offered to resign the Premiership, and go home either temporarily to negotiate loans and mail service, or permanently as AgentCreneral/ Mr Stafford not only refused h^t. strongly objected to Mr Yogel leaving the .colony, pointing out the ffofctteial dangers looming ahead, and tbat throagh Mr Vogel's poi ioy the country was placed in a position of a Srecarioo. I character, aod most forcibly welt npon the duty of Mr Yogel waiting in the colony for tbe results of bis -own action. For himself he had refused absolutely to take act or part in tbe matter. If the policy is a success he had no wish to claim any credit; if it failed he wished the failure to rest npon the right shoulders.
