NELSON AND WEST COAST RAILWAY.

We bave received the following telegram from Mr Richmond .— WEtinroToir, August 19. The Nelson members have sent the following letter to the Premier, enclosing the resolutions parsed at the public meeting with reference to the Foxhill and Brunner ton Railway: — . To tbe Hon. the Fhemikb. Sir — We have the honor to transmit to yon herewith copies of resolutions passed at a public meetinz held in the Town of Nelson on the 7th instant, to consider the present position of the construction of a railway from i Foxhill to Brunnerton. We wish particularly ! to request your att< ntion to the opinion expressed in tho first resolution, that a line ] two Tam<l ale would fail to developo any of the resources of the province of Nelson, which can only be effected by a line of railway openii g up the Buller, Inangahaii, and Lyell districts, aa opinion in which we entirely concur. We desire further to add that we are convinced that tbe Government will find, on enquiry, from persons acquainted with the route via Tarndate that not only would the railway pass through n country unsuitable for settlement, and and unproductive of traffic, elevation, and otherwise difficult character of the country over which It must be taken, the line would be difficult and expensive in construction, and would ba unavailable for traffic in the winter months in consequence of the obstructions caused by the fall of snow.
