We are indebted to His Worship the Mayor, for tbe following correspondence which has passed between himself and Mr Curtis M.H.R. :— To Oswald Curtis, Esq., Superintendent of tbe Province of Nelson. Sm — I have the honcur to forward you copies of resolutions passed last night at a very largely attended meeting at the Provincial Hall, with a request that you will be good enough to use all your influence with the members from * elson to bring the same under the notice of the General Government, and hope that you will all bo unanimous in urging our claims io the strongest way posrible. Sib — I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your letter ol tbe Bth instant, forwarding copies of resolutions passed at a public meeting, held in Nelscn on the day previous, relative to the trunk lioe of railway through the Province. At a meeting of the members for the Province in both Houses, which I called for the purpose, it was resolved tbat the resolutions should be forwarded to the Hon the Premier, accompanied- by a memorandum in support of their general tcnour signed by the Nelson members.
