Nelson College.— Charles Tates Fell, Esq., bas been appointed a Governor of the College, in the place of Thomas Bronner, deceased.

The Gazette of August 6 contains a notification that the services of the Nelson Artillery Volunteer Cadet Corpß have been accepted. The Loyal Combination Troupe continue to perform to well-filled houses. Tbey will appear for the last time tonight, as they proceed to Wellington in the Taranaki to-morrow. We have Tnot space to-day for the Australian telegrams par Omeo, which, however, do not contain much of interest. The Nubia, with the Suez mail, left Gnile for Australia on the 31st July, being three days before ber time. Mr Redwood's horses arrived at Melbourne on the 4iu instant in fine order. Nelson Variety Troupe.— This amateur company will give an entertainment of a varied character on Friday next. There will be a number of acrobatic feats, and the whole will conclude with the laughable Ethiopian farce entitled, "A night in a" new Hotel." Supreme Court. — The criminal sittings of the Supreme Court commence on Monday next. There are four cases to be tried, namely, Margaret Cox for unlawfully and maliciously wounding at Westport ; Stephen Matthews for maliciously wounding ; Thomas Brooks . for feloniously killing a sheep ; and Newman Boseley and Wi'liom Millyard for wilful murder. Ooly one civil case is set down for hearing, that of the National Bank v. Mortimer.
