To The Editor of The Evening Mail.
Sir —l should not have troubled you with this, only that I found this raorn- | ing that our strange visitor, the comet, was not, as was thought, approaching towards the sun, but receding from it. Yesterday morning being cloudy I could not get a sight of it. This morning the eastern sky was cloudless, but very hazy; aud tho moon shining brightly prevented its being seen to advantage. I found that the star Procyon, which two mornings ago was hidden behind the comet, was now visible at some distance to the eastward of it. This shows that it is passing up into the heavens, and as such, what with the moon and the morning twilight, we shalt ccc little more of it. I-am, &c, * W. H. Nelson, July 31, 1874.
