There is great distress in Canada consequent upon the incessant rains since the disappearance of the snow. The farmers have been eating their seed graiD, cattle have died and fears of a (amine are entertained. Sraa!l-pox is very prevalent and has broken out in an Asylum containing 600 patients at Toranto, where it rages. Ladies fairs and balls have been successfully held in aid of tbe Louisiana sufferers.

An excursion train with 700 people ran off the track at Louisville, whea three negroes were killed and ten injured. Ten whites have been killed in another railway accident at Syracuse and thirty injured by one car jumping off the track. Thirty disguised men entered the gaol in Louisiana and took out two murderers and hung them in accordance with Lynch law. Mrs Doyer, released from a lunatic asylum a year ago as cured, has murdered her husband and three children in a shocking manner. She says that she loved them dearly, and j wanted to send tbem to heaven before herself. A hurricane in K°mpville unroofed and destroyed numbers of houses, and injured several persons. There have been large fires in various parts of the States. An explosion in a Pennsylvania mine killed three miners. Seven men, who were lighting the fire, were overcome with gas and carried homo unconscious. The sufferings by the Mississippi overflow continue, and twenty thousand rations are daily issued.
