The Cyphrenes arrived at Auckland this morning but the lines being down ber news is not yet telegraphed. In the case of Steele and Keogh v. Hotchießon bis Honor delivered judgment holding tbat tbe facts were not set forth with sufficient clearness in tbe defendant's pleading. The plea was bad iu substance. The Supreme Court was occupied all day with the case of J. S. Macfarlane v. Harris, junior. The evidence generally related to the manner in which the informations were laid. Mr John M'Leod, a Justice of the Peace, and formerly a member of the General Assembly, before whom the informations were laid, deposed in reply to questions by the Judge, that he would not put much faith in Mr Macfarlaoe's statement on oath, bis knowledge of Mr Macfarlnnb'a commercial aud political influences having led him to believe that be was a dangerous roan. Tbe case is not yet concluded. Lyttelton, July 23. Arrived : Eastern Monarch, from Plymouth, with 530 immigrants, 73 days out, all well.
