Nichol Breen, a warder at Sandhurst Gaol, has committed suicide by taking poison. Five thousand pounds are required to sent a rifle team to Europe. Mr M'Coy, late Principal of Ballarnt Collpge. has cut his throat. Betting is dull. Meredah, A,L., and Llama are favorites for the Derby. Tho Lutheran Church at Sinithdale, has been blown down in a gale. Lines of railway to Maryborough and Creswick are opened. Melbourne has been constituted a Consulate General of the United Stotes. The railway receipts for the year were £85,900, being £20,000 in excess of the estimates. Jane Davies has been burned to death at Sandhurst by her clothes igniting. Tenders for tho Gippsland railway are to bo called for in three months. Teas are iv fair demand ; maize, 4s 7d. A DELUDE July 11. Seven thousand sheep have been condemned as diseased with the fluke. One hundred and fifty men have been discharged from the Wallaroo mines, and it is reported that a similar number will follow. The men express their determination to emigrate. The reported case of 6mall-pox ib P'Oaounced to be chicken pox. Private telegrams from China report that four million pounds of tea have been shipped to date.
