Dunedin, July 15. Actual applications for over 140,000 shares have been received by the Directors of the new Colonial Baok throughout the Colony up to date. Lyttelton, June 15. Arrived — Hereford fiom London, 75 days out, with 491 souls. Five births and five deaths occurred on tbe passage. Remainder all well. Aucklind, July 15. William Bartley, barrister, son of Mr Bartley, formerly Sp.aker of the Legislative Council, was found in an outbuilding of hia residence, Woodside, with his brains blown out by a doublebarrelled gun, which had been inserted in his mouth. It is supposed that low spirits, from expectation of another attack of asthma from which he suffered greatly, caused the deed. 11 a.m. The barque Novelty has arrived She brings the Torres Straits mail.
