June 12, steamer Charles Edward, 89, Whitwell, from West Const. 12, stiamer Lidy Barkly, 30, Walker, from Golden Bay. *] he brig Gazelle«CSptain Brent, left Newcastle on Saturday night, May 23, with a light S.W. wind, which veered into the southward; freshened' up to a har 1 gale with a heavy crots Bea on tho 24th, which compelled tbe •I'ife.jg to lay to under a main topsail lor 24 hoursyw.hen it moderated and went intU%he eastward, continuing from east to _gcsth until passing Cape Farewell on Monday, the sixteenth day out; had light baffling "winds up tbe Bay, and came to anchor off \he Lighthouse on Wednesday. Captain Brent wishes us to say that he has not had a point of westing in the wind during the whole passage, a very unusual thing in thenionth of June. >. ? *
