CHURCH PARADES.

To the Editor of the Evbninq Mail. Sir— Without having the slightest objection to, but rather «pprovin« of, the church parades which have occasionally been hald of late, I would st]gg!st r to the officers in command that, unless they return from church at a time when the ssr vices generally are concluded, it wonld be less inconvenient to those who attend other p:aces of worship in the town, if the volunteers weretorrarch back to the orderly room unaccompanied by music . The ''gentle power of Rosalie the Prairie Floiver" is stated to have been felt by " everyone who knew her," but probably this was in some degree owing to her using a little discretion in the exercise of it. Had sue endeavored to enforce it through the medium ot brass trumpets and big drums at an hour when thosi pha sought to influence were engaged in their devotions sho might have met with less success than is attributed to her in those touching lines in which her name has been immortalised, and which have been set to the music th it was so well played by the band yesterday. There are some of our churchgoers who think that the efficacy of the Lord's Prayer is not enhanced by an accompan'ment of negro melodies. Trusting that the volunteers will accept my suggestion in the same friendly spirit in which it is offered, I am, &c , Chubch Militant.
