Christohubch, April 10. The wheat market is slightly easier, several parcels having chauged hands at reluced rates. The farmers are delivering freely at 4s 7d to 4s 9d, at the Cbristchurch railway station. The colonial orders are moderate, but there are several shipments for Sydney. Oats are iv request for snipment to Melbourne arid Adelaide; for local consumption the farmers are getting 4s 3d in Cluistchureh; the price free on board at Lyttelton is 4s 6d to 4s 93; the local demand is so great that there is no chance of lower prices till Spring. There is a brisk trade in barley at 5s 3d; 3000 sacks have changed hands for shipment, the prices being withheld. In flour, there is a good local trade. Brau and sharps are in short supply, and orders are difficult of execution The following are the latest market quotations:—Flour, £12 in sacks, £12 10s in 1001 b bags, and £13 for 40lb bags, with 10s per ton extra fo.b. in Lyttelton; bran, £ft per ton ; sharps, £6; grass seed, prime samples, 4s 3d to 4s 6d in Cbristchurch; butter, lOd to Is; cheesa, sd; bacon and hams, 9_d in Lyttelton; best blue Dorwent potatoes, 50s to 55s in Christchurch. Auckland, April 10 Sa!es of National Bank shares at 765; National Insurance, 3ls; Alburnia, double, 625; City of London, 245; Bismarck, 15s; Fiji Bank, small, 48s; Um'on Beach, 12s; Cure, Bs. Sellers : Fiji Bank, 60s. Mr Buckland reports:—Fat cat le, 24s to 275. One hundred sheep were put into the market on Thursday, and there was an unusual fall in lato prices — merino wathers fetched 2jd per lb.; long wools, 4d; ewes, BJd; lambs, 12s to 17s each. Dry cows, 30s to 80s. GRAHAMBTOWN, April 10. The Advertiser gives the month's gold returns as 11,626 ounces, be'ng an increase of 8,2?5 ounces over last month. Dunedin, April 10. Oamaru flour, £14; Canterbury, £13. Wheat, ss; oats, 5s 9d. April 11. In the Supreme Court tho Judge committed two men for contempt of Court for applauding when Sturruc was acquitted by the jury on a charge of embezzlement. The value of land in the province is rapidly increasing. Driver, Stewart, and Co. sold 8129 acres of land at Awomoko at 563 2s per acre. The land was purchas d from the Government two and a half years ago for £1 per acre. Tho Hon J. H. Miller was the purchaser.' Another case of scarlet fever has occurred at the quarantine station. New Plymouth, April 10. Mr M'Gee'srace-horfe Quicksilver, on her way to Auckland by the Bteamer Go-a-head, got killed. Alexandra, April 10. Mr Mackay, Colonel Lyoa, and a party of Armed Constabulary (mounted) have gone to Kopua to meet Rewl. Wellington, April 11. Governor Ducane and suite were passengers by the Mongol for Auckland. The Postmaster-General has authorised a testimonial valued at £50 for presentation to Captain Brown for bringing on the mail from Kandavau on finding that the Mongol had gone. The Hutt railway opens on the 14th instant. Three trains a day. Charges moderate.
