Bluff, April 1. The Claud Hamilton left Melbourne at 7 a.m. on the 25th March, And armed at the Bluff at 7 a.m. to-day, the brings 29 saloon, and 49 steerage passengers, and 340 tons of cargo for all ports, fc he sails lot Dunedin at 5 p.m. Wellihgton, March 31. A Gazette extraordinary, published this afternoon, further prorogues Parliament until the 11th of May. The Tribune will appear to-morrow as an evening paper instead of a morning as heretofore. The Woodlark's immigrants landed to-day. A couple of youog children died while in quarantine The Hutt railway will be ready to he handed over to the General Government to-morrow. Auckt.and, April 1. For the Franklin district, Messrs Goodfellow, Woodward, May, Dargaville, and Troupe were nominated. The show of hands was in favor of Mr Goodfellow. 8 a.m. The Mongol has arrived without the Californian mail, the City of Melbourne nothaviog connected at Kandavau. The Macgregor is still at Kandavau, being pumped night and day. The causo of the City of Melbourne's nonarrival at Kandavau is unknown. 9 am. The Mongol made the outward passage to Kandavau in three days 22 hours. The Tartar arrived from Sydney on the 22nd, and sailed with passengers and mails for San Francisco the same night. On the 26th, the City of Melbourne not arriving, the Captain of the Mongol left again for Auckland in order to be in time to take the next outward mail. The Star of the South will probably bring on the New Zealand mail on the arrival of the City of Melbourne at Kindavau. The Mongol sailed on the 27th of March at 6 p.m., and arrived here at 7*30 this morning. The MacGregor is much more damaged than reported by the Marion Kenny. A number of her plates are completely riddled and the keel is carried away from the foremast to the stern. Jt is intended on the return of the Mongol to lighten her as rauch a\ possible and build a coffin dam over her id jured parts, alter which the Mongol will take her to Sydney. There is news from Fiji of a terrible canoe accident' at Kow, when 69 natives lost their lives, most of them being devoured by Bharks, while attempting to reach the shore. A memorial signed by two hundred white residents has been presented to Counsel Layard requesting him to take on himself the Magisterial functions and to administer the legal affairs of the white population. He has promised to return an answer shortly . 10-40 a.m. The City of Melbourne has arrived with the San Francisco nail. She left San Francisco on March 7tb, and arrived at Honolulu in eight days; leit 24 hours afterwards, and reached Kandavau in 10 days 12 hours, and had to wait till daylight before entering. Found the Mongol, had gone 19 hours before, so left at once for Auckland, and arrived after a passage of 3 days 22 hours. Passengers. — For Dunedin: Messrs Woodville nnd M'Larcn. For Canterbury : Mr L. Nathan. The transmission of the Australian mails across America was delayed by a snow blockade.
