This was a motion for an. nj unction to restrain Mr Bonny from ex- . pending any further sums under a warrant signed, by MrDoreett, Provincial Auditor, on the. ground that that warrant was illegal because the funds were not legally available. The Government were willing only to undertake to pay for contracts entered into betorc the dlsallowmentof the Act, but the AttorneyGeneral maintained and the Judge held that the contracts rot absolutely comp'eted before ' the disallowance of the Act could not be paid for under the Act, and on that the injunction was granted. Mr Travers argues for a mandamus on behalf of the Provincial Government at two o'clock. There ia no chance now of a compromise between the parties. March 25. Mr Travers, after the injunction being . granted, applied for a rule nisi for a mandamus to compel the Provincial Auditor to act as require! by the Audit Act. The Judge said that the whole question seemed to be narrowed down to tbe validity of the former Auditor's warrants, and, as at present advised, he considered that the warrant was inoperative b? the disallowance of the Appropriation Act The mandamus was not resisted, as U wan shown that the Provincial Government had more than a sufficient balance at the Bank to cover all tbe pledged expenditure. The Auditor has since been certifying warrants. The ship Woqdlark from London, with immigrants, arrived last nigbt. She has fever oa board and is placed in quarantine. J)une»in, Mar- h 25. There was a large attendance at the races yesterday, and the weather waß beautiful. Hurdle Back. Maid of the Mill, I; Mistletoe, 2; BaDjo, 3. Jockbt Club Handicap. Lurlihe, 1; Tambourini, 2; Atlas, 3. Calumny was scratched. Templeton also ran. There was a splendid race between the first two horßes, Lurlice winning by half a length. Betting two to oae on Lurline against the field. Stbwabbs' Pdbse. Tambourini and Gossip being scratched, Calumny and Lurline only started, but the latter retire 1 alter goiug half round the course, leaving Calumny to walk over.
