Cbickbt Match. —On Saturday next a friendly game of cricket will be played between the Union and College clubs at the Botanical Gardens; wickets to be pitched at 1.30 p.m. This game will probably conclude the season. Mr Haddow said that the directors wero prepared to propose an pxtension of the capital for carrying on Iho wotks. Mr Curtis stated that if this were done, the paid up shareholders would be liable for their share. Mr Wells wua of opinion that the mine was not worth spending any more money on. He therefore proposed: — II That it be an instruction to tho Directors to stuy all proceedings, and (o nalise as speedily as possible the assets of tho Company in whatever way they might consider most judicious for the interests of the shareholders." Mr Cuhtis proposed as an amendment: — " That the Directors bo u quested to obtain the best'raining advice they could as to the moßt economical means for further testitjg the uiiue." A lengthy discussion ensued after which the amondmeufc was put nnd lost. The Chairman then put Mr Wells' resolution which was carried by a majority of two. A vote of thanks to the chairman terminated the proceedings.
