The ship Wellington and barque Cyrus were completely wrecked last night, a couple - of miles inside the Heads, at the mouth of Jtlappy Valley. Two lives were lost from the Wellington, and five from the Cyrus, including Mrs Wriggleßworth, the wife of the photographer, and two children. The vessels were insured. They sailed on Friday, bound for Newcastle. No bodies have been recovered. Captain Bill, of the Wellington, escaped in a boat with eight seamen in a miraculous manner. The Cyrus people were rescued, by the shore people, and were much bruised. The vessels went ashore close together and were reduce 1 to matchwood in a few hours. '■' March 9. The aggregate lobb of the Well'ifgton aod Cyrus is £8. 000, The Wellington was purchased for £-1,000 before the rise in ship property. She was insure! for £1000 in the New Zealand Company, £1000 in the South British, and £1000 in the Victoria. The Cyrus was insured for £1000 each, in the South British and New Zealand Companies. She was worth £2700. Mrs Wrigglesworth and children were crushed to death by the falling of the deckhouse just as the captain was making an effort to get tbem on tbe rocks. He ordered the second mate and a seaman to try to get to certain rocks so as to pass a rope to save the weman' and children/ The men made the attimpt gallantly, but were washed off and seen no more. None of the bodies have yet been found. Owing to the heavy gale on Saturday afternoon, some apprehension was felt regarding the Blanche, with tbe Governor and Mr Weld onboard, but the yacht came into harbor this afternoon. A preliminary inquiry into the cause oi the late wrecks was held at the Custom-house today. The official enquiry has yet to be held. The lighthouse is now erected, and was •lighted for the first time to-nigbt. Auckland, March 9. At the Police Court tbis morning Captain Holman appeared to answer to a summons respecting the rtrandint? of the barque Anazi. The court waa crowded.
