OUR VOLUNTEERS.
To the Editor of thb Evening Mail. Sir — The departure of the Taranaki on Wednesday last was witnessed by a very large number of ladios and gentlemen. The wharf waa crowded, tli.ee of our Nelson volunteers, Messrs CrossniHU, Moore, and Burn having left in this vessel. They go to represent Nelson in'the Prize Firing about to take place at Napier. A largo number of volunteers belonging to the various districts, strangers to our ebons, were on board. I don't know who was the oflicer in command, but a great error in a military point of view, as well as a want of courtesy, wns shown to all by not having the Ar illery brnd march', d down to the wharf. " Cheer Boys Cheer," and the " Girl I left behind me," would have been a mark of respect to the Jadies present, as well as a duty to the < ; Cloth" I am, &c, fl. J. L. Augarde. Bridge-street, March 5.
