NELSON CITY DRAINAGE.

To the Editor ofthe Evening Mail. Sir — Any person unacquainted with the history of the Nelson Board of Works reading tho communication published in the ' Evening Mail' of Tuesday last, would suppose that the drainage scheme originated witb the preset t Surveyor to tho Board, when the fact is that the Trafalgar and Hardystreet sewer was built before he came to Nelson; also that the Bridge-street junction was buiit at the same time as the Trafalgarstreet sewer was made. The drain up Bridgestreet waß simp-y a continuation of that commenced before. I wish to call the attention of the present ratepayers to the fact that former members of the Board of Works were not unmindful of the necessity of providing drainage for Nelson. 1 am, &c, Joseph Webb.
