Eiple Shooting. — The first competition for the Snyder Rifle presented to the City Rifles by Lieutenant Muir, of the Dunedin Artillery, will take place at the Maitai Butts on Monday morning, ranges 200, 400 and 500 yards. Ou Tuesday morning a rifle contest wiil take place between the City Eifles and the City Artillery, ten men aside, ranges, 200, 400 ond 500 yards, position at 200 yards standing fiva^nots at each range. -Standard Instjrance Company. — Our readers will have noticed from our advertising columns that this Company has a clause in its articles of association entitling all insurers " whose accounts show a credit balance for the year" to divide among them a portion of [ the surplus profits of the Company.
